Where to Stay in Deia Mallorca

La Residencia: The Crown Jewel of Deia

At a Glance:

  • Price: $$$$
  • Rooms: 67
  • Highlights: Luxury spa, fine dining, extensive art collection

As I approached the honey-colored stone buildings of La Residencia sprawling across the hillside, I knew I was in for something special. This Belmond property is hands-down the most luxurious hotel in Deia, if not all of Mallorca.

From the moment you arrive, you’re enveloped in an atmosphere of refined elegance. The hotel seamlessly blends historic charm – it dates back to the 16th century – with every modern comfort you could desire. My spacious room featured a private terrace with sweeping views of the mountains and sea, antique furnishings, and plush bedding that had me sleeping like royalty.

What truly sets La Residencia apart is its world-class amenities. I indulged in a blissful massage at the award-winning spa, took a refreshing dip in one of two outdoor pools, and even tried my hand at tennis (the courts here are top-notch). Art lovers will be in heaven – the hotel houses an impressive collection of over 800 original works, including 33 Joan Miró paintings in the on-site Café Miró.

Foodies, prepare to be wowed. El Olivo, the hotel’s fine dining restaurant, serves up innovative Mallorcan cuisine in a romantic 16th-century olive press. For a more casual vibe, Café Miró offers tapas and cocktails with a side of those priceless artworks.

Helpful Tip: Book a guided tour of the hotel’s art collection – it’s fascinating to learn about the pieces and the artists’ connections to Deia.

While La Residencia comes with a luxury price tag, the impeccable service, stunning setting, and sheer variety of experiences on offer make it worth every penny for those seeking the ultimate Mallorcan escape.

S’Hotel d’es Puig: Scenic Mountain Retreat

At a Glance:

  • Price: $$
  • Rooms: 9
  • Highlights: Mountain views, family apartments, great value

If you’re looking for charm and value in Deia, S’Hotel d’es Puig should be at the top of your list. This intimate, family-run guesthouse offers a peaceful mountain setting just a short walk from the village center.

I was immediately struck by the warm, welcoming atmosphere. The owner-manager makes you feel right at home, offering personalized recommendations for exploring the area. The hotel’s rustic-chic decor perfectly complements its surroundings, with exposed wooden beams and traditional Mallorcan textiles.

My room was comfortable and spotlessly clean, with a private balcony overlooking the lush gardens and mountains beyond. For families or groups, the two-bedroom apartments with kitchenettes are an excellent option.

One of the highlights of my stay was lounging by the inviting outdoor pool, surrounded by fragrant orange and lemon trees. The generous breakfast spread, featuring local specialties and fresh-squeezed orange juice, was the perfect fuel for days of hiking and exploring.

Helpful Tip: Take advantage of the hotel’s honesty bar in the evening – it’s a great place to mingle with other guests and enjoy a nightcap under the stars.

While S’Hotel d’es Puig may lack some of the bells and whistles of pricier options, its incredible value, scenic location, and genuine hospitality make it a hidden gem in Deia’s hotel scene.

Es Molí: Relaxing Country Escape

At a Glance:

  • Price: $$$
  • Rooms: 87
  • Highlights: Sea views, extensive gardens, private rocky cove

Perched between the Sierra de Tramuntana mountains and the Mediterranean, Es Molí offers the best of both worlds for nature lovers. This larger property manages to maintain an intimate feel thanks to its well-designed layout and expansive grounds.

My room featured classic Mallorcan decor with modern amenities, and a balcony perfect for soaking in those mesmerizing sea views. The real star of the show here is the outdoor space. I spent blissful afternoons exploring the meticulously landscaped gardens, filled with native plants and tranquil water features.

The large main pool area is a sun-worshipper’s paradise, but the hotel’s true hidden gem is its private rocky cove. A short shuttle ride takes you to this secluded spot for swimming and snorkeling in crystal-clear waters.

Foodies will appreciate the on-site restaurant, which serves up delicious Mediterranean cuisine with a focus on local, seasonal ingredients. Don’t miss the themed dinner nights for a taste of authentic Mallorcan flavors.

Helpful Tip: Book a massage at the spa – the therapists are skilled and the treatment rooms offer stunning views of the countryside.

While Es Molí is larger than some of Deia’s boutique properties, its beautiful setting, extensive amenities, and focus on relaxation make it an excellent choice for those seeking a tranquil country escape.

Sa Pedrissa: Romantic Hideaway

At a Glance:

  • Price: $$$
  • Rooms: 9
  • Highlights: Adults-only, historic 17th-century manor, spectacular views

For couples seeking a romantic retreat, Sa Pedrissa is hard to beat. This adults-only property occupies a beautifully restored 17th-century manor house, offering an intimate atmosphere and jaw-dropping coastal views.

From the moment I stepped into my room, I was transported to another era. Antique furnishings, wooden beams, and handmade tiles create a sense of timeless elegance, while modern amenities ensure complete comfort. My private terrace was the perfect spot for watching the sun set over the Mediterranean with a glass of local wine in hand.

The hotel’s grounds are a nature lover’s dream, with centuries-old olive groves and fragrant gardens to explore. I spent many happy hours lounging by the infinity pool, which seems to merge seamlessly with the sea beyond.

Dining at Sa Pedrissa is a memorable experience. The restaurant, housed in the former olive press, serves up creative Mallorcan cuisine using ingredients from the hotel’s own organic garden. For a truly special meal, opt for breakfast under the pine trees – it’s pure magic.

Helpful Tip: Book one of the tower rooms for the most dramatic views and a truly unique stay.

While Sa Pedrissa’s secluded location means you’ll need a car to explore the area, its romantic ambiance and stunning natural setting make it the perfect choice for couples seeking a peaceful hideaway.
