To access the East shore trail new parking lot, put in your GPS “Tunnel Creek Cafe” The parking lot is right in front of the cafe’s parking lot where the East Shore Trail begins. We grabbed breakfast at the Cafe, they open at 8 am before we started biking.

where is the start of the trail? How to access the east shore trail

The East Shore Trail starts on the left side of the main highway/ road right next to Tunnel Creek cafe and the parking lot. The trail starts going uphill before it starts to decline on the right side of the road and wrap next to the lake. It’s a bit unclear where the East Shore Trail begins, but if you just follow the wide cement path up :), you are on the trail!

I recommend you arrive early in the morning or later in the afternoon, especially during peak summer season, as parking spots fill up quickly.

When I went, we arrived at 7:15 am and there were about 4 cars parked at the 90 spot parking lot. So plan on arriving before 8 am.

Enjoy the East Shore bike trail Trail with Your Four-Legged Friends

You may be wondering, are dogs allowed on the east shore trail?” Good news for pet owners! The trail is pet friendly, so you can bring your leashed furry friend along. We brought our pups along in a bike trailer behind us and they loved it! Just know, the pavement is extremely hot during summer days. Along the trail, I saw that there were complimentary wagons for pet owners who weren’t aware of how hot the pavement can get. that was awesome to see! As you can see we brought along this bike trailer that we carried our dogs in and they loved it!

At the start of the trail, there is Tunnel Creek Café located at the northern trailhead, a great spot to grab coffee and breakfast and rest. We started our day with Coffee and breakfast here before heading out on our bikes.

I Loved the hidden beach cove you’ll find halfway along the trail. We locked up our bikes and headed down to the beach with our pups. The beach was fairly busy but there were areas to sit. Please keep your pups on a leash here so they don’t bother other people around you.

Explore Sand Harbor State Park
