First Impressions of The The Sawyer Kimpton Hotel Review

From the moment I stepped into the sleek, modern lobby, I could tell this was no ordinary hotel. The chic decor with refined accents immediately evoked a luxurious feel. But it was the charming staff that really stood out – I was warmly welcomed with a glass of vino as they swiftly checked me in.

I took the elevator up to my spacious corner suite on the 11th floor. Floor-to-ceiling windows flooded the room with natural light, revealing stunning panoramic views of the city skyline and the Capitol building.

After settling in, I poured myself a glass of wine from the complimentary Raid the Bar credit and soaked in the magnificent views from my suite.

The separate living area provided plenty of space to relax and entertain. I knew immediately this would be an amazing weekend staycation!

Unwinding at Kimpton Sacramento Hotel in Style

I couldn’t wait to indulge in some relaxation, so I drew a soothing bath in the spa-like bathroom.

The deep soaking tub was an absolute delight – it easily fits two and boasts views of the city! The Atelier Bloem bath products smelled divine and the fluffy robes and slippers were the epitome of luxury.

Feeling rejuvenated, I headed up to the rooftop level to check out the pool and lounge area. The Revival Bar & Lounge did not disappoint!

Sacramento’s hottest rooftop spot features an infinity pool overlooking Golden 1 Center, cozy cabanas, fire pits and farm-to-fork bites and cocktails. During the day it’s an oasis of relaxation and by night, the scene transforms into a lively lounge with music and dancing under the stars.

With my pup in tow, we took the elevator back down to explore the surrounding Downtown Commons area, known as DOCO. The hotel couldn’t be better situated – it’s literally steps away from the action! We wandered the bustling plaza with its restaurants, shops and entertainment venues.

My 4-legged fur babies were treated like a VIP at this Sacramento pet-friendly hotel. The Sawyer warmly welcomes pets of all sizes and provides complimentary amenities like dog walking services (extra charge for this), relief areas, dog beds, and water bowls in rooms.

After our adventures, I dined at the hotel’s on-site upscale steakhouse, Echo & Rig. Their menu focuses on quality ingredients and elevated preparations.

I savored a melt-in-your-mouth Ribeye steak paired beautifully with a full-bodied Napa red wine. For dessert, the warm chocolate chip cookie skillet with ice cream was pure decadence!

In addition to the on-site Echo & Rig steakhouse, the Sawyer offers multiple dining options just steps away. Adjacent Punch Bowl Social offers a hip, lively setting with bowling, karaoke, arcade games, and bar fare.

The DOCO plaza is home to diverse restaurants like Yard House, Sauced BBQ, Morton’s Steakhouse and more. With quick access to downtown’s best eateries, the Sawyer makes dinning out effortless.

Heading up to the rooftop lounge, I was hyped to check out the pool scene. Yass! Sacramento’s hottest spot did not disappoint with its infinity pool, cozy cabanas, fire pits, and delish farm-to-fork bites and cocktails.

During the day it’s a relaxation station, and the nighttime scene totally pops off with loungy upscale live music and mingling under the stars!

That night, I snoozed like a baby in the cushy king bed with blackout blinds.  The blackout blinds and high floor kept downtown’s hustle and bustle at bay. I woke refreshed and invigorated, ready for another day of indulgence!

Looking to pamper yourself? The hotel’s full-service spa offers massages, facials and body treatments. I treated myself to an aromatherapy massage right in my room – absolute bliss! The $30 in-room spa credit for Kimpton Karma Rewards members was an added perk.

One of the highlights of my stay was experiencing a cabana at the Sawyer’s spectacular rooftop pool and lounge, Revival. Our cabana for 6 overlooked the infinity pool and came stocked with everything needed for optimal poolside lounging and fun. Shout out to The Sawyer team for getting me this swag bag to get ready for the pool!

The vibrant pool scene was buzzing on the sunny 85 degree day as the radio spun energetic mixes of top 40 and deep house lounge music. Our cabana was a secluded oasis featuring plush, modern furnishings and amenities galore.

We indulged in the included 6 drink vouchers from the cocktail menu as well as the swag bags, which each contained 2 luxe pool towels, SPF spray, a stylish water tumbler, slides, a trendy Revival branded bag and baseball cap. 

It was pure poolside luxury! We laid out on the cushy chaises, periodically cooling off with a dip in the heated pool. The attentive cabana hosts catered to our every need, bringing food and drinks poolside as we soaked up the glorious weather and lively ambience. 

The Revival cabanas provide an elevated experience perfect for relaxing and entertaining in swanky style. Lounging poolside while sipping cocktails and nibbling on farm-fresh bites, we felt like VIPs. It was an afternoon of leisure I’ll always remember – a definite highlight enhanced by our private cabana oasis!

Arriving to the Sawyer valet, I just knew the check-in was gonna be good. And I was right! 

Soon as I stepped in the lobby, the fine folks greeted me with a glass of tasty vino and puppy pets for my pups. A lil Fellow Wine to make a girl feel special!  

Check-in was quicker than a blink with my room keys in hand. Shout out to the front desk for the speedy service!

And bonus – as an IHG member I scored late 2pm checkout and free fast Wifi. yay! 

But what really shocked me was the personal attention to detail. My gal at the front desk even texted later to make sure I was settled in! Umm yes honey, I’m feeling the luxury vibes up in here!

The Sawyer def knows how to roll out the red carpet from the moment you arrive. Their check-in experience is so on point!

I couldn’t wait to indulge, so I soaked in the spa-like bathroom’s deep tub overlooking the city. The Atelier Bloem products smelled divine and the robes were so plush.

I headed up to the rooftop Revival Lounge which totally dazzled. The infinity pool, cabanas, fire pits and delicious farm-to-fork fare created an urban oasis overlooking Golden 1 Center. By night, Revival transforms into a lively lounge with music and dancing under the stars.

With my pup in tow, we explored the bustling DOCO plaza steps away. This pet-friendly gem welcomes pets of all sizes with amenities like dog walking, relief areas and in-room water bowls.

I dined at Echo & Rig, the Sawyer Hotel upscale steakhouse restaurant. The Ribeye paired beautifully with a full-bodied red wine. For dessert, the warm cookie skillet with ice cream was pure decadence!

The Sawyer Kimpton Hotel Suite Room: 5/5 Rating

Y’all, the rooms at this place are insane! I was lucky enough to stay in a Premium Corner Suite on the 11th floor and it straight up dazzled. We’re talking over 1,000 square feet of pure luxury! 

The separate living room and bedroom areas gave us plenty of space to lounge and entertain. And that view – floor-to-ceiling windows revealed stunning vistas of the Capitol building and Sacramento skyline. Simply spectacular! 

But the true showstopper was the spa-worthy bathroom with a stone soaking tub overlooking the city. This tub could easily fit two adults and was perfect for a relaxing soak with a glass of bubbly. 

And the lighting – omgeeee the lighting was everything! With huge windows and mood lighting, the suite is perfect for photoshoots. So Sacramento wedding venue shopping brides, if you’re looking for a fab backdrop for your wedding pics, this is your spot!

Then there were the plush spa robes and divine Atelier Bloem bath products that made me feel like royalty. Every detail was sheer luxury!

The Sawyer rooms definitely delight. I’m already dreaming of returning to this lavish downtown oasis!

Watching the sunset and amazing view of the capitol building in my suite while snacking on chocolate-dipped strawberries was a perfect ending to the evening.

Waking up refreshed, I enjoyed pancakes and fruit delivered right to my room. This suite truly provided a luxurious oasis!

I hit up the fully loaded 24-hour fitness center before treating myself to an aromatherapy massage in my suite. The $30 in-room spa credit was a nice perk for Karma Rewards members.

This hotel goes above and beyond, anticipating every need while surrounding you in total comfort.

It’s no wonder Conde Nast named this Sacramento’s top hotel. The Sawyer Kimpton sets a new standard for luxury stays with its style, sophistication and top-notch hospitality. I was utterly blown away by this downtown gem and can’t wait to return!
