Bora Bora, with its turquoise lagoons and lush greenery, is a dream destination for honeymooners and all travelers alike! I was lucky to have visited Bora Bora at Le Bora Bora Pearl Resorts for my honeymoon. I scoured the web for all information on when it was the best time to visit Bora Bora, as we had a budget and vacation time set aside. The best time to visit Bora Bora, the jewel of the South Pacific, really depends on your preferences and priorities. Whether you’re seeking a luxury honeymoon getaway, outdoor activities, or a more budget-friendly Bora Bora vacation, understanding the different season Bora Bora has will help you decide when it’s the best time to go for you.
For me, It was during Covid and there were restrictions still in place (bummer! but I didn’t let that stop us). We had to postpone your honeymoon since 2019, so In 2022 when Bora Bora opened up with restrictions, It was time for us to make this happen. So I went down the rabbit hole of finding information to plan our trip. The first thing I wanted to know was when was the best time to go to Bora Bora?

Low Season/ Rainy Season in Bora Bora
The low season in Bora Bora is during the months of November to April. It’s obvious there is a higher chance of rainfall, but it doesn’t mean you should completely rule it out. The rain showers are usually short-lived, and the island’s lush greenery and marine fishes come to life during this time! The advantage of visiting during the low season is huge discounted rates on Bora Bora Resorts and fewer crowds to contend with.
We decide to visit Bora Bora for our honeymoon in March during their rainy season and snagged an amazing price on flights and overwater bungalows with a prime view of Mount Otemanu At the awesome luxury resort Le Bora Bora by Pearl Resorts, (check out my review of Le Bora Bora Resort here) Get this, for less than $650 a night and less than $900 RT flight from SFO! The weather was perfect, yes we got some light rain but honestly, it passed so quickly that it didn’t bother us at all, and made for amazing rainbows (My cup is always half full). The weather was a nice comfortable 85 degrees Ferenheight.
High Season/ Dry Season in Bora Bora
The high season in Bora Bora is from May to October. This is when the island experiences its dry season, with plenty of sunshine, blue skies, and minimal rainfall. The weather is hot but pleasant, perfect for beach activities and water sports. However, the high season also brings a surge in tourism, and higher prices, and more crowds. Booking in advance is crucial if you plan to visit during this period.
Shoulder Season of Bora Bora, Tahiti French Polynesia
The shoulder seasons in Bora Bora, which fall between the high and low seasons, is a great compromise between the other seasons. These transitional months give a balance between good weather and fewer crowds. The months of May and November are considered shoulder seasons in Bora Bora. During these times, you can enjoy pleasant weather, reasonable prices, and a less visitors.
