The Giant Forest, Sequoia National Park
Oh, I love Sequoia. There’s this moment — you step out of the car up in the Giant Forest, the air turns cool and sharp with pine, and then you’re standing at the foot of a tree so impossibly, gloriously enormous that your whole sense of scale just resets. General Sherman isn’t the tallest tree on Earth or the widest, but by sheer volume it’s the largest living thing on the planet, and tipping your head back to follow that cinnamon-colored trunk up into the canopy gives you real goosebumps every single time.
What I love most, though, is that Sequoia rewards slowing down. The light slanting through the groves at golden hour. A meadow suddenly full of wildflowers. That deep, cathedral hush beneath trees that were already ancient when Rome was young. It’s not a park you rush — it’s one you breathe in. So here’s everything I’d tell a dear friend before they go: when to come, how to do it beautifully, where to stay, and all the little things most people miss.
