BEST Area TO STAY IN TOKYO Japan

Tokyo Japan is massive! With 20 different districts/neighborhoods and with over 30 million people, making it the largest city in the world, it is an overwhelming feat to decide where to stay in Tokyo.  If you’re traveling to Japan, make sure to check out Japan Travel inspiration and going to Japan for the first time travel tips . These are my personal recommendations for the best areas to stay in Tokyo!

Shibuya &  Shinjuku Neighborhoods in Tokyo

Where to stay in Tokyo depends on your planned activities. But for the majority of visitors, Shibuya and Shinjuku are the best areas to stay in Tokyo. Here are a few reasons why Shinjuku and Shibuya are two of the best neighborhoods to stay at especially if it’s your first time in Tokyo.

Located in the heart of Tokyo, Shinjuku is a vibrant and lively area with bustling streets,  towering skyscrapers, neon lights, and lively nightlife that Tokyo is famous for. Here’s why Shinjuku is an excellent area to stay in for first-timers:

• From JR Tokyo Station, it will take only 20 minutes to go to JR Maihama Station in Tokyo Disney via JR Keiyo line or JR Musashino line
• Great for families or older travelers stopping by Tokyo and going onward to other towns
• You can easily go to Kyoto from the Tokaido Shinkansen line
• The famous Ramen street inside the station (on floor B1)

If you prefer a more traditional and historic neighborhood, Asakusa should be on your list. Although not within the JR Yamanote Line loop, Asakusa offers a glimpse into old Tokyo with its ancient temples, historic sites, and charming residential areas. It may not be as convenient as other areas, but its rich heritage and cultural significance make it worth considering The location is not as convenient as Shinjuku, Shibuya, Tokyo Station or Ginza.
